3D printing manufacturer stratasys has joined forces with aurora flight sciences to deliver, what is believe to be, the fastest and most complex 3D printed unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) ever assembled. unveiled at the 2015 dubai airshow, the high-speed drone is built using lightweight materials to achieve speeds of 240 km/h.
the final design of the UAV weights only 15 kilograms and is 80 percent assembled from 3D printed parts. the primary goal was for the team to show the aerospace industry just how quickly companies can go from designing to building to flying a 3D printed jet powered aircraft. this meant using different printing parties and technologies together on one aircraft. stratasys believes 3D printing technology easily supports rapid design iterations that led to a dramatically shortened timeline from the initial concept to the first flight. this also enables cost-effective development of a customized task-specific vehicle, without the cost constraints of low volume production.
the ‘fenyr supersport’ is the second addition to the w motors lineup of hypercars focusing purely on performance, power and speed. limited to only 25 units per year, the carbon fiber body balances advanced aerodynamics engineering with the aggressive aesthetics conceived by the internal design team. the w motors ’fenyr supersport’ is powered by a mid-rear custom-made flat six cycled, 4.0L twin turbo engine manufactured by RUF automobile in germany. a seven-speed double clutch gearbox delivers 900hp to achieve zero to 100 km/h acceleration in less than 2.7 seconds and a top speed exceeding 400 km/h. also contributing to performance improvements, the whole car is crafted out of carbon fiber and complemented by a tubular light-weight aluminum chassis.
airbus presented its new helicopter the ‘H160’ at the 2015 dubai airshow. pegueot design lab drew up the initial designs, which were then adapted, developed and finalized by the in-house design team at airbus. the creators at peugeot worked on it after winning an in-house competition launched by airbus where the final design of the medium-twin helicopter aimed to get outside influences to create a new benchmark with regards to style.
we used the initial styling developed by peugeot design lab to define a strong personality for the rotorcraft—a mirror reflection of the innovation, performance and emotion unique to the H160,’ describes guillaume chielens, head of style and design at airbus helicopters. ‘we developed a helicopter based on their design which immediately caught the attention of both operators and the general public. style has become a key priority for the H160 programme, which aims to make a strong impression both with its unique personality and its performance.’ the futuristic contours are enhanced by the helicopter’s tapered windows, and offers an updated take on the previous generation, the ‘dauphin’, whose nose has been revamped. the lines of the ‘H160’ convey how efficient and quiet it is in the air which was achieved through a series of innovations an airframe made from composite materials, a biplane stabilizer, and a canted tail rotor.
this one is just a rumor for now, and if it does happen it may not be by 2017. A self-driving Apple car would seriously shake up the entire auto industry if it does pan out, so it deserves a mention nonetheless. The Silicon Valley tech giant has recently been poaching well-respected auto executives from all over the world who are working in secret on a huge car-related project codenamed Titan. If Apple does get into the new car business, it will not do so unless it has something completely revolutionary. History tells us it is just the type of company to pull that off.
iPhone 7 will probably arrive in September 2016
The iPhone 7 is rumoured to be fitted with a 'hexa-core' processor, which will make the phone significantly speedier than the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, a better camera that improves on the current generation's 12-megapixel lenses, and a stronger body to ensure that the phones do not bend, after some users reported that their iPhone 6 models would flex in their pockets.
iPhone 7 cost roughly what the iPhone 6S currently retails for, specifically £539/$649/AU$1,079 upwards.
iPhone 7 will have Waterproof design.
